Title
[edit]The title "Targeting municipal services in Gaza" implies that the IDF are deliberately targeting the services, which is a view not held by all parties in the conflict. A more neutral choice of title is needed, for WP:NPOV. May I suggest "Bombing of municipal services in Gaza? Wikishovel (talk) 11:55, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- You are right. And it is very questionable if this very narrow topic should have a standalone page. This is much better merged into another wider scope page. Marokwitz (talk) 13:51, 28 November 2023 (UTC)
- I agree it's problematic, I also agree with @Marokwitz's assessment it best be merged. For now it ought to be renamed for NPOV. Homerethegreat (talk) 14:45, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
Proposal for changing the article's name and scope to "Israeli strikes against Palestinian infrastructure (2023-present)"?
[edit]I recently came across the article Russian strikes against Ukrainian infrastructure (2022–present), and I think that this article could follow that example and be broadened in scope, as well as avoid the intentionality ascribed in the current title (brought up in the previous section of the talk page). What do you all think? JasonMacker (talk) 07:16, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Support, especially as this seems likely to continue into the new year. Wikishovel (talk) 07:26, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Support. I am open to changing the article's name I created. However, It's crucial to acknowledge the potential bias and inclination towards spreading fake news as stated by the other narrative. Freedom's Falcon (talk) 10:53, 11 December 2023 (UTC)
Alternate proposal: I think a better name would be Damage to Infrastructure in the 2023 Israel-Hamas War. Thus it can be a child-article of 2023 Israel-Hamas War that talks about damage on both sides due to the war. Also referring to the war by name removes the clunky use of the "-present" suffix. Marokwitz (talk) 14:57, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- The name you propose might be too broad, because I imagine that would have to include damage in northern Israel & southern Lebanon as well, when my intent was to limit the topic to Gaza and the west bank. The damage to Palestinian infrastructure in Gaza has far more attention compared to attacks within Israel (minus the initial raids by Hamas in the Gaza envelope, which are detailed in the a 2023 Hamas-led attack on Israel article). If you have sources that talk about major infrastructure damage within Israel, please share them. JasonMacker (talk) 02:55, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
