Greek/Latin

The article bases its claim that Herodotus used the name "Tarentum" on the Penguin translation. In fact, Herodotus uses the original Greek name "Taras" throughout; the translator likely used the form "Tarentum" because this is the custom in English language Classical Studies, when referring to the ancient city. "Tarentum" is, as far as I know, the Latin name of the city (which does occur in a few later Greek witers, due to Latin influence). 140.247.236.53 12:25, 9 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

So are you saying that the Romans added a latin suffix to a greek word?
