The article is written on a Peruvian nationalist point of view. This article about the Chilean department should only treat the department itself. Although I think the disputed territory should be part of the article, the tone is not neutral. @180app Hi there. The tag was removed. While the article reads better now, I think the administrative history (i. e. the creation of the department, the elevation of Tarata town to departmental capital, creation of a newspaper (it is available on the Chilean National Library) and the suppression of the department - which had nothing to do with the Peruvian claims against the own Chilean claims). Cheers mate, the article still needs some work, of course. I took the time nevertheless to reword some bits so that the NPOV tag would no longer be necessary. Whatever changes you're able to add right now are welcome of course. Perhaps you might be able to help with sourcing Chilean POVs (such as the National Library)? The Sep. 23, 1921 issue of La Nación, p. 8, includes some notes which may be interesting to this article. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru protested the inclusion of Tarata and Estique into the Tacna province of Chile. "President of the Republic had a lengthy interview with the Foreign Minister to study the definitive work destined to counter the Chilean law on Tarata. It was announced that part of the speeches by the Foreign Minister at the Chamber of Deputies responding the Chilean Foreign Minister, Barros Jarpa, will be published". --Bedivere (talk) 06:40, 27 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
