For future reference: In 1991, Nightline broadcast two reports regarding allegations that officials with the Reagan campaign conspired with Iranians to delay the release of the hostages until after the 1980 Presidential election (see October Surprise conspiracy theory). The primary source for many of the allegations was Jamshid Hashimi. Sonenshine interviewed Hashemi for the Nightline report that was broadcast on June 20, 1991. The report of the House October Surprise Task Force who was later investigating the allegations notes that they "sent a letter to Tara Sonenshine of Nightline, requesting that Ms. Sonenshine meet with the Task Force and discuss her meetings with Jamshid Hashemi. The Task Force received no response from Ms. Sonenshine." -Location (talk) 22:20, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
