Add genoa sail area
[edit]My first edits of a sailboat page. It looks like there is a standard template available in the information box on the right of the page, and this makes things easy. I filled in the jib area (35 sq.ft.), but it shows as:
"Jib / Genoa area 35 sq ft (3.3 m2)".
I don't know how to add that the genoa area is 45 sq ft.
- Oops, I just found the WikiProject Sailing page, and will look that over for my info.**

- The sail area data came from the refs cited, which are pretty incomplete. Do you have refs that can be added for the sail areas that you filled in? Where did those numbers come from? - Ahunt (talk) 14:19, 14 July 2016 (UTC)
- I have gathered this information from a number of sources, including my own Constellation. I have in my possession some copies of documents -
- - a pdf copy of the Tanzer 16 plans, that shows the sail areas (Main 100 sq ft, Jib, 35 sq, Genoa, 45 sq ft, Spinnaker, 205 sq ft), but I received that by email from someone I know. There is a copy on the tanzer16.org website, but it is too poor to read.
- - a pdf copy of a brochure for the Tanzer 16 and the Tanzer Overnighter that shows the same information.
- - a page from a 1970s edition of 'Sea & Pacific Motor Boat Magazine' showing a review of the Tanzer 16 and Tanzer Overnighter.
- None of these resources is available publicly online, to my knowledge.
- Additionally, the names of the boats were the Constellation, Tanzer 16 (renamed from the Constellation due to a trademark issue), and Tanzer Overnighter, which varies slightly from your cited references. Again, I do not have online reference citations, yet.
- There is a US Class Association in North Carolina. The website is at www.tanzer16.org. The Canadian Class Association, which had been in Montreal, has been defunct for many years.
- I'll continue trying to dredge up proper citations. - Canadian Uisge (talk) 02:05, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- That would be great if you can cite refs. They don't have to be available on-line to be cited, paper or other off-line refs are fine as long as they meet WP:RS. - Ahunt (talk) 13:14, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
