Should I change the examples section to bullet points?
[edit]The examples section is incredibly long, and I'm not sure it's all that enlightening. Is it better if I change it to bullet points with some of the most notorious/historically influential examples? Zsrocks04 (talk) 16:42, 21 February 2024 (UTC)
Etymology
[edit]According to sources that may not be good enough for wikipedia, "tanking" (in the sense of loosing on purpose, be it to take advantage of for a strategic purposes, match fixing, or just to take a break before fighting to win the next round) comes from boxing or tennis, and was (perhaps) first called "to dive" (in the sense "to go down"), then "to tank" (where "tank" meant a swimming pool). It's apparently from the last half of the nineteenth century; presently, the article seems to suggest the concept is much more recent. If anyone can find a valid source, I think this should be included in the article. Nø (talk) 07:45, 10 May 2024 (UTC)
