Tangaroa expedition

I have deleted material relating to a Tangaroa expedition for two reasons:

The material already appears in the Kon-Tiki article; it relates to the topic of that article well.
The material has nothing to do with the topic of this article, which is about Polynesian mythology, primarily Māori.

Possible connection to Central Asian "Tengri"

in Turkic, central Asian shamanist religions the supreme god is termed "Tengri" which appears to be a cognate for Tengaroa. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.178.243.219 (talk) 09:50, 18 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I know, there has never been any language contact between the Polynesian and Turkic language families. Are there any reliable sources that support this statement? Jarble (talk) 19:26, 31 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
