I had intended that the definitions for Reduction and Elongation that appear near the bottom of Tandem Rolling Mills (equations and diagrams) would be pages in their own right, so that when the mouse was placed on those words the corresponding definition would appear straight away, but when I tried to do the stand alone Reduction Definition page it was rejected by AngusWOOF because he said it was too small !! The GIF File:BU Roll eccentricity compensation by Hydraulic Screw.gif has been replaced by one that shows the piston acting on the top BU Roll bearing, which is correct. Can someone remove the old incorrect one; it is in COMMON. AutoElectEngr (talk) 21:05, 8 December 2020 (UTC)
I noticed that Sketch 1 had incorrect proportions so I have corrected it; consequently can someone remove the old versions, File:Sketch of Rolling Mill Stand end-view naming its parts.jpg and File:Sketch of Rolling Mill Stand naming its parts.jpg; they are in COMMON in category Tandem Rolling Mills. The File:Hydraulic piston correcting out-of-round BU Roll.gif has an error in the 84th frame; I tried uploading a new version of the file with that frame corrected, but somehow it used the same old copy and now it wont let me upload the newer version; it says its identical to the old version which is not. AutoElectEngr (talk) 09:14, 13 December 2020 (UTC) I found a way to upload the new version, so now I need to have File:Piston correcting out-of-round BU Roll.gif deleted as well. The information contained in this page are not covered anywhere else in Wikipedia, and was written at the request of other engineers (because the graphical approach makes understanding of such principles easier to understand). I thought Wikipedia was about preserving knowledge; I guess I was wrong! If this page is deleted, then some of that information will be lost ! AutoElectEngr (talk) 07:52, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
- OK, the issue is this violates our policy on WP:NOT, specifically Wikipedia is not a text book. But the PROD was contested and removed and I'm not going to send to formal deletion discussions. It does, however, require significant cleanup to conform to wikipedia standards. Polyamorph (talk) 18:41, 17 November 2021 (UTC)
Thank you BattyBot for fixing those references. AutoElectEngr (talk) 08:01, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
