removal of incorrect and uncited information
[edit]I would like to perform a major edit on the entry for the Tana River mangabey. (I had attempted this before, by just deleting the incorrect and uncited information, but the entry was reverted because I had not explained myself. That is due to my Wikipedia naivety. But this isn't the first time that this entry has been vandalized.) The incorrect and uncited information is pasted below "Demand for this primate's fur exportation has increased as well in recent years. This is due to its use as exotic material for clothing. Recently, fur has been blended with Merino wool to create what the industry calls "ultra blends." Besides fur hunting, exported Tana River Mangabey hydes are being fasioned into accessories. Tana River Mangabey belts are a trend which is attaining haute couture status in Asian markets and further threatens its survival. Local native groups actively hunt this primate due to the higher content of marbled meat as opposed to other primates in the region. Activist groups like PETA have protested against the hunting, market for, and use of the primate in these ways. The Animal Liberation Front has employed guerilla warfare tactics in the region against the local tribesmen." If the person who originally posted this information has a peer-reviewed source, you must include it in the entry. Without it (as we all know), the information is worthless. Any discussion?
Also, the Tana River mangabey has been downlisted to Endangered in the 2009 Red List. This needs to be changed as well.

- Hi Julie. I've fully reverted IP 69.207.1.66, which re-inserted most of the above. I have been unable to find *anything* supporting the above quoted claims, and consequently they clearly fail for WP:V. I notice you were warned for your edit on this talk page, but that the user afterwards realized it was a mistake (probably a bit too fast with WP:HG - a fast application, but mistakes happen). Should someone re-insert the above quoted info or alike without a supporting reference, please do go ahead and remove it. 212.10.74.181 (talk) 14:40, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for fixing this. Juliewhiz (talk) 19:07, 29 September 2009 (UTC) Juliewhiz
