Fair use rationale for Image:Tamer Ya Bent El Eh.jpg
[edit]Image:Tamer Ya Bent El Eh.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit]Do you think the category: "Egyptians of Syrian descent" should be in this article? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Egyptians_of_Syrian_descent --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:54, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
- Source I have found says his mother is Syrian: http://www.tamerhosny.ws/bio.html --Supreme Deliciousness (talk) 14:58, 9 September 2009 (UTC)
The right question is "When is it appropraite according to Wikipedia rules to label a person of a certain descent"? Admin Sancho has stated the rule on this matter. He stated: "SD, avoid original research. Even the leap from "Sharif's parents were Lebanese", to "Sharif is of Lebanese descent" is going too far in an article about a living person." So, even if the parents were of a different citizenship, calling the person of that descent would be a leap unacceptable in Wikipedia. Tamer Hosny's father is Egyptian and Tamer was born and has lived all his life in Egypt. So, no, he is not of Syrian descent. There is not enough evidence to support this. It is important to ask the correct question and give answers that are in line with Wikipedia rules and not personal opinions. --Arab Cowboy (talk) 12:16, 11 September 2009 (UTC)
this page should be removed as Tamer hosny is not an accepted public figure and is a disgrace to educated Egyptians and Doesn't deserve to have his own page on Wikipedia —Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.234.55.54 (talk) 01:01, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

I added the bit about his appearance at Tahrir Square. I can't for the life of me figure out how to make a footnote, but the source for this information is http://blogs.aljazeera.net/middle-east/2011/02/08/live-blog-feb-9-egypt-protests, although the line about him saying he made a mistake I watched broad cast on Al Jazeera and therefore don't have a link to a source. [Adding later] that same link now contains footage of Hosny apologizing for not joining with the protesters earlier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.246.5.26 (talk) 09:24, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- I installed a link to the Al-Jazeera Live blog of the Egypt protests. Oclupak (talk) 15:22, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
The recently added line that states "In an attempt to ingratiate himself with the public..." in the Egypt uprising section strikes me as unnecessary editorializing (even though I would personally agree with it, if true about the release of patriotic songs) and is not sourced. The footnote in that section refers to the information about his appearance in Tahrir Sq and later on Al Jazeera only, and not to any planned release of patriotic songs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.246.5.26 (talk) 12:50, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Considering the nature of the history of edits to this article and the COI by at least one of the primary editors, I remain concerned that the article has had criticism removed and promotional text added. I appreciate that much of the critical text was unsourced but so is the promotional text (or just unencyclopaedic prose based on promotional websites). If there is no reasonable discussion of how to correct this in the short term, then I propose to trim out all unsourced text that violates the WP:BLP guidelines that does not have a direct footnote against it either to an independent source or they are basic non-promotional facts about himself deduced from his own website. Big Apple Music Awards Foundation
[edit]The award from this foundation seems of dubious significance. It appears that Hosny was the only person nominated for the award mentioned and so winning it appears a foregone conclusion. Fæ (talk) 13:17, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
