I have made the following edits to this page: 1. The existing page's lead section is rather short, and most of its information is from Jeffrey Heath's 2005 grammar. The grammar calls the language Tamashek, while Ethnologue and other sources (even the grammar's referenced sources) call it Tamasheq. This nominal variation is noted in the beginning. Lastly, I chose not to include the sentence about northeastern Burkina Faso as the existing citation is incorrect.
2. The existing page says in its lead section that there are two divergent dialects: Timbuktu and Tadghaq. The author did not provide a citation for this fact, but it reflects the view of Tamashek's Ethnologue page. In contrast, Heath's grammar says there are three main dialects, as noted below.
3. The existing page's phoneme charts are lifted from the Heath's grammar, but the charts have been modified rather whimsically. In order to stay accurate to the grammarian, I recreated the charts from Heath's.
4. The existing page only has one sentence about Tamashek's morphology under its grammar section, and it is on its verbal subsystems. Thus I have updated the morphology section by adding information largely on the language's derivational morphology, particles, and clitics.
5. The existing page does not have a section on syntax, therefore I added a brief summary on the language's word order, noun phrases, adpositional phrases, topicalization, and focalization.

Use one spelling
[edit]I feel that the article should mainly use one spelling of Tamashe(q/k), I don't really see a reason for the flip-flopping that is currently done. Luna Wagner (talk) 12:12, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
