[edit]i removed this: Together with the fact that Estonia has a much longer and involved cultural and political history than Finland, this makes Estonians feel they are more civilised and cultured than the Finns, whom they have taken to call "reindeer" (poro in both Finnish and Estonian), because of their alleged constant desire for cheap alcoholic beverages.
calling finns "poro's" is so '99 :D
but it really is outdated. reason for such stupid vulgarity (propably) comes from deep soviet times: when in 1960's was opened Tallinna Kaubamaja (first mall in Tallinn), then basically, all over from russia slightly richer russian shoppers came here to buy things, that in here actually were a bit more western, better quality and nicer and stuff, than in russia.
of course they were disliked alot. and now, after re-independene, it seemed, that this trend is continuing! and stupid estonians(incl. me), who didn't understand, that unlike back then now it's profitable for us, we're talking about our relative-nation and all those other little things taking in count also, finns were called poros. luckily, few years ago that practise ceased to be. that word is not used anymore in estonia. over. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.196.38.190 (talk) 19:20, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit]After the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991, Estonian living standard (although still not on the level of Finland) has improved drastically. In fact, many goods are more expensive in Estonia than in Finland (e.g., some food supplies, clothes, etc.)
This is rubbish. Estonia is much poorer than Finland. The second sentence contradicts the claim (made above) that Finns come to Estonia for cheap shopping. That some goods may be more expensive in Estonia is due to the smallness of the market, not Estonians' high living standard. I suggest the sentences should be removed 37.157.110.217 (talk) 22:03, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
