Prof. Blokland is not that widely referred on Wikipedia, but she has contributed with her writing and research to the Dutch and German, as well as the American and UK academia. She has not only contributed to the debate in academia, but also to the public and political debate. She has done research on housing und housing politics and was in the RMO council for ethnical integration politics (http://www.adviesorgaan-rmo.nl/). Her book Urban Bonds is a widely recognized definitive book in urban sociology, as you can see here:

  • "This is a book of major intellectual significance. Talja Blokland succeeds in casting her case study around broader theoretical concerns that will have relevance for urban sociologists everywhere." Mike Savage, University of Manchester
  • "Talja Blokland has written an engaging, thoughtful and often provocative analysis of changing social life in an inner city neighbourhood." Charles Tilly, Columbia University
  • "This is a superb empirically grounded study of social relations, exploring important theoretical issues about space, identity and community in the context of wonderful and compelling ethnography." Richard Jenkins, University of Sheffield

She was appointed as professor for urban sociology in Berlin, which one the most influental chairs on urban issues in Germany. This chair has had big influence on German city policy (for instance on the programm Soziale Stadt) and is internationally noted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tilman berlin (talkcontribs) 25 November 2010 (UTC)
