The Takutu bridge is an important link to facilitate road traffic all around South America. Now it is possible to drive from Letham to Boa Vista and from there to the west, Manaus, from there to Belem, the capital Brasila etc.
Because going the other way we may drive to Linden, Georgetown, Corriverton and the by ferry to Suriname. We may drive to Paramaribo and thence to the French border, Albina on the Surinam side and Saint Laurent du Maroni on the French side of the Marowijne river. This river is still crossed by car-ferry, with cars in Suriname driving on the left side and in French Guyana on the right side of the road. Going East we pass Kourou with its space station, thence to Cayenne, the Capital. From the capital there is a road to Regina, and the road continues to Saint-Georges-de-l'Oyapock and then with dugouts accross the river to the town Uaiapoque in Brasil, state of Amapa. From there you can drive with a rented car to the town Macapa, where a ferry wil bring you to Belem with fantastic connections to everywhere in Brazil.
