So why do I remember lots of references to Take your Daughter to Work Day in old TV shows? I thought that was the reason it was 'daughter' (despite always hearing it as 'kid' in real life, as the article says few people ever limited it), because the daughter version was some oldtimey girls-as-secretaries way of thinking. Now I find out it's the opposite? I wish I could remember specifically which TV shows...
