Take me Away 2x

[edit]

Why does there also exist a song called "Take me away" that wasn't part of "Let go" is it the same? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let_Go_%28Avril_Lavigne_album%29#Outtakes_.2F_Leaked_Tracks_from_the_Let_Go_Sessions

Ok found it in this article in "other version". Awesome there really exist 2 songs which are very different.

Genre

[edit]

Does everyone just feel the urge to argue about whether this is a Rock or Post-Grunge or whatever else genre of song or is there actually a reason people are edit-warring over this? —Preceding unsigned comment added by VernoWhitney (talkcontribs) 19:21, 14 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why? Because it needs to be accurate otherwise whats the point of the entire article? If somebody could tell me what is exactly post-grunge about this song I would be happy to listen to them and if somebody could find a reference then I would be more than happy to have post-grunge in the article. However, as it is, I personally can't hear anything post-grungey in this song. A song like 'Losing Grip' has a guitar rhythm usually associated with grunge music but because it's watered down by the other asects of the song, we call it post-grunge. 'Take Me Away' however doesn't have any grunge-like qualities. I agree that it is one of Avril Lavigne's heavier songs but thats all. I think a simple 'Rock' will do for now, unless anyone can find any references for post-grunge. Thank you. Zylo1994 (talk) 16:35, 3 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my name is CaliforniaDreamsFan, and I will be reviewing this article! Review will be posted version soon

Thank you very much :)--U990467 (talk) 19:44, 22 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Opening
  • If there isn't any other official artwork used for the single, then remove the caption bar inside the infobox.
    •  Done
  • Create a flatlist for the genres in the infobox.
    •  Done
  • I'd personally remove the reference next to Alternative Metal and place it in the Composition section, since it's not necessary to put it there.
    •  Done
  • ""Take Me Away" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, written by herself and Evan Taubenfeld for her second studio album, Under My Skin (2004)." ––– ""Take Me Away" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Avril Lavigne, taken as a promotional single from her second studio album Under My Skin (2004). It was written by herself and Evan Taubenfeld, whilst production was handled by Don Gilmore." (Didn't identify producer in the original).
    •  Done
  • "It has an edgy, post-grunge sound" ––– Who describes it as "edgy" since I can't find it in the article? Plus, isn't it useful to also mention alternative metal?
    •  Done
  • "The song was also released as the B-side of "Don't Tell Me" physical single in many regions and was re-released digitally on iTunes Store as the promotional tool for the album on May 24, 2004." ––– "The song was also included as the B-side on the physical release of "Don't Tell Me" in many regions, and re-released digitally as a promotional single from the album on May 24, 2004."
    •  Done
  • You mention in the article that the track received mixed reviews, but refer it only as a track with "similar musical style to some of songs from Under My Skin?" You might wanna say ""Take Me Away" received mixed reviews from music critics (link music critics to music journalism). Some critics complimented the composition and musical styles, whilst the rest criticized her songwriting and negatively compared it to the work of fellow Canadian artist Alanis Morissette." (something like that )
    •  Done
Background and release
  • "It serves as the opening track from Under My Skin" ––– "It serves as the opening track to her second studio album Under My Skin (2004)"
    •  Done
  • Take away "single" after "digital download"; remove the word "tool" and replace it with "single", it sounds a bit better. (just my opinion)
    •  Done
  • "Other songs from the album like "I Always Get What I Want" and "He Wasn't" were also released digitally at the same time." –––> "The tracks "I Always Get What I Want" and 'He Wasn't", which also appeared on the parent album, were also released digitally on the same date."
    •  Done
  • You cannot use a YouTube link at the end of the last sentence on paragraph three unless it is a verified account. Is there any other validated sources to support the last sentence where it says "It is complete different from the Under My Skin track", because if not, then just say "The Lavigne and Matrix track was originally meant to be on Lavigne's debut studio album, Let Go (2002), but didn't make the final track listing."
    •  Done
  • The rest is fine!
Composition
  • Good inclusion of the music sheet
  • There is nothing here about the musical genre of post-grunge or alternative metal; add a sentence or critique with sources referencing the sound please.
    •  Done
  • My only personal opinion is; try an extend this sub-heading a bit more; any more reviews regarding the sound, production, workers on the track, review of the track itself?
    •  Done
Reception
  • Good research for this section
  • Your image of Evanescence is slightly too much for the article since you've got a sound file and cover artwork, and since it's not exactly a well-covered or established track, the article may fall under Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria; if it's evident in the article, you can add it.
    •  Done
  • Plus, where have you mentioned in the article about its comparisons to Evanescence?
    •  Done
  • ALSO, add a small summary about the comparisons between Alanis Morissette and Evanescence in the top lead.
    •  Done
Live performances
  • Again, you cannot add a YouTube link unless it is verified. Reference the last link on the first paragraph with the first sentence since its already got information about it being recorded/used for the Sessions@AOL show.
    •  Done
  • Everything else is fine.
Track list
  • Since there is only like two track listings of the single, add a format similar to the track list on this page: Ai no Uta (Words of Love).
    •  Done
External links
  • Is there an official page about the song on her website or anything like that? If not, it's fine as it is
    •  Done
  • Also, remove the stub tag at the bottom of the page.
    •  Done
Overall

A really solid review, but needs a bit more fixes, changes, and/or editing. On hold for 7 days; good luck CaliforniaDreamsFan (talk · contribs} 06:17, 23 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
