Stubbing, unstubbing...
This article was stubbed User:STATicVerseatide back in February, because the album doesn't meet WP:NPALBUMS. This is probably true. However, the numerous citations make me believe that it does meet WP:GNG...probably. After the stubbing, a new editor built the article back up from nothing, but without those citations. As such, I've reverted back to the pre-stubbing version, because it's better than the current one. Is this album upcoming album notable? Or does it still fall under WP:CRYSTAL? I don't know. However, that will need to be decided by consensus; if StaticVerseatide still believes this doesn't meet relevant notability guidelines, I think it should be taken to AfD. Tracks
Dreams Money Can Buy is not the intro to Take Care and hasn't even been confirmed for the album. Marvin's Room hasn't been confirmed either and Drake said himself Trust Issues wasn't going to be on Take Care. The Ride is just speculation and where the hell did you get "Only One" from? The only song that is still not completely released but is confirmed is "Polo Sweater". — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.121.189.17 (talk) 22:11, 22 June 2011 (UTC)

{{edit semi-protected}} If you separate Marvin's Room/Buried Alive (Interlude) into 2 individual songs, you should separate Cameras/Good Ones Go (Interlude) into 2 individual songs also. Please make this change as soon as possible.
71.93.107.245 (talk) 18:51, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
Contrary to the original leak, Marvin's Room and Buried Alive (Interlude) ARE separate tracks on the CD/LP and the digital download. Cameras and Good Ones Go (Interlude) are NOT. Proof:

On the digital booklet and physical release, both Marvins Room/Buried Alive and Cameras/Good Ones are one track. The only time they are separated is in the download. Perhaps for people who are putting them on mobile devices who wouldn't want the interlude?
Regardless, I think there should only be 19 tracks total. --Cartman005 (talk) 04:13, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Downtempo
The RS source notes "hip-hop, R&B and downtempo dance music", while AVClub says "downbeat", an alternate name for "downtempo". If this is about whether "downtempo" is an actual genre, there is an article on it and looking it up with Google Books shows text about it, the genre. If this is about the context, downtempo implying "low" tempo, the RS source mentions it in line with other genres, and "downtempo" is an electronic dance style, so the "dance music" part is just redundant. I hope this clears up whatever issue there was. Dan56 (talk) 05:33, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Your argument it weak. You said it yourself "downbeat". It refers to the beat, not the the genre of the songs. In all the examples you provided, downtempo is used as an adjective to describe the beat/pace of the songs. They are not classifications like R&B", hip-hop, rock, jazz etc. So you need to give me more sources than that. Otherwise, I will revert it. Orane (talk) 05:42, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- And the RS article says "hip-hop, R&B and downtempo dance music", not "hip-hop, R&B and downbeat music", which would actually give your argument some weight. So, downbeat is removed until you can source it as a GENRE. Does metacritic list it as a genre? Does all music? Any other reputable sources? No. Orane (talk) 05:44, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- I need a stronger argument so you are convinced? You talk like you're some authority, giving an ultimatum about reverting it. I said it myself? "Downbeat", synonymous with "downtempo". You're talking about classifications, and I think "downtempo" qualifies as one, and you don't. That's it. It's an issue of point of view. So maybe you should be the one who needs to come up with a stronger argument and not me, who decided to open this talk page when I didn't have to, because I wasn't the one making a controversial removal. And since when is Metacritic is reliable source for genres, or Allmusic? Dan56 (talk) 05:49, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, you need to convince me. You're the one asserting that an unconventional term such as this is a genre. That is synthesis of sources, and original research. Allmusic has always been reputable. So has metacritic. The edit to remove the term was never controversial. I will consult the relevant noticeboards, and they will offer their opinion. and you will have to argue why you think this is a genre, and why it should stay in the infobox. The onus is on you, not me. And we're dangerously close to committing WP:3RR, btw. Orane (talk) 05:57, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

- Metacritic shows the genre to be "pop/rock" [2]. And you claimed at your talk page that I have not proved "downtempo" is a genre, like there a burden on me to do so. The burden is on you, so just chill out a bit with the "Otherwise, I will revert it." sentiment. Dan56 (talk) 05:58, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- For the argument over whether it's a genre or not, search for "downtempo" genre in Google Books shows articles/pages from sources like CMJ, a book on music software, and several others ones. So, the sources shown in these [3] [4] Google Books searches should put a rest to that side of things. So, I'm not "asserting that an unconventional term such as this is a genre", because it's already proven. Dan56 (talk) 06:10, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
I will state this boldly and clearly: Wikipedia:No original research states, "Wikipedia does not publish original thought: all material in Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable, published source. Articles may not contain any new analysis or synthesis of published material that serves to advance a position not clearly advanced by the sources." I draw your attention to "any new analysis or synthesis of published material". You cannot argue that the RS article, nor the AV Club article, discussed "downtempo" in the way you claim, as suggested by the sketchy google book sources you provided. Read Wikipedia:No_original_research#Synthesis_of_published_material_that_advances_a_position. If the google book article claims "downbeat is another name for trip hop", then fine. But the RS article makes no indication of this either. Orane (talk) 06:32, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- I found a few reviews that claim that the album explores "trip hop". Would that work for you, or are you hung up on "downtempo"? Orane (talk) 06:38, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
I've never heard of a downtempo genre but the Rolling Stone source and those Google Books mention that it is a genre. Oz talk 06:41, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- RE:Journalist's previous comments: Why trip-hop? What source(s) say the album has trip-hop? "Downtempo/downbeat" is an electronic dance genre. Why are you disputing it? RS indicates "downtempo dance music". What's sketchy about the Google Books link I provided. Is it the first result in the search that calls it a genre, the second source listed that calls it a style? The problem here is that you think when the critic/writer of the album reviews says "downtempo", he means "low-tempo", while I think he means it to be of the genre. I typed in Google: "Drake 'Take Care' downtempo" and found numerous review sources describing the album, the tracks, vibe, mood, etc. as "downtempo". I then typed in Google: "Drake 'Take Care' low-tempo" and found no review sources calling it "low-tempo". Could this mean they were referring to the genre when they used the term "downtempo"? If the majority of the reviewers used "downtempo" rather than "trip-hop", than it should be the former. And it's not ambigious when the writer uses a genre as an adjective in the sentence. Should we wait for others to respond and comment here? Dan56 (talk) 06:59, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- There isn't such a thing as "low tempo". What are you talking about? I've never once said that "downtempo" means "low-tempo". And you hit the nail on its head: you said "I typed in Google: "Drake 'Take Care' downtempo" and found numerous review sources describing the album, the tracks, vibe, mood, etc. as "downtempo". Yes, the vibe and mood and pace of the album is downtempo (i.e slow and groovy). We've established that. But tell me, which sources are these? And secondly, downtempo in these instances are used as adjectives. Genres are nouns. The Toronto Star refers to "trip hop", and if there are no objections, I'll go ahead and introduce it into the article. Orane (talk) 07:20, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- Where do you get "slow and groovy" from? What we've established is that the critics say "downtempo", and if they used any other genre/style in adjective form, we wouldn't be having this discussion, but you just don't want it that way. "Downtempo" is a genre, the critics describe the album that way. If they described the album, the track, vibe, mood, etc. as say "hip hop", would there be a discussion about? As for the only source that mentioned "trip-hop", it says "occupies a headspace often closer in tone to ’90s trip-hop", which is weak at best to include it as a genre here, when numerous sources say "Downtempo" rather than "trip-hop". I don't see why you're making such a big deal about this. Could you please remove until others comment here? Dan56 (talk) 17:10, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
- A recent source I found may bring us to a comprimise, believe it or not. Ann Powers of NPR calls the music a blend of R&B and "downtempo electronica" [5]. According to the WP article on electronica, and a statement there that seems to be sourced, "electronica" also serves as an umbrella term and encompasses electronic genres like "downtempo" and "ambient" (mentioned in Take Care article), as well as "trip-hop". How about removing "downtempo" and "trip-hop" from Take Care, replacing it with "electronica"? Dan56 (talk) 05:32, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
'Downtempo' as the name itself suggests has to do with tempo and the tempo of a song is indicated in BPM which makes it clear that it concerns essentially the beat or groove of a song. It is not a genre (from a general point of view) but if you gave a source calling it a genre, then my opinion can change. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 05:34, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
- Calling 'downtempo' a genre will lead to'uptempo' and 'midtempo' also being called genres. ★Jivesh 1205★ (talk / ♫♫Give 4 a try!!!♫♫) 05:36, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

- I think a Rihanna image should remain in the article as it currently is. It's relevant to the text, and while it's not at all crucial to understand the article, having visual illustrations in the article is desirable and there are few enough other images in the article at the moment. In the last 90 days, the Drake album has received 202,079 views, or 84.7% of all traffic.[7] That's overwhelming even before you figure that Drake's song, the second most sought topic with 25,028 views (10.5%), is discussed in this article. As such, the album article serves as a WP:CONCEPTDAB in spirit with coverage of the song. The dab page received 6,247 views, more than the only other article, the film at 5,084. This suggests a significant number of readers are being misdirected, and the dab situation is a roadblock for the vast majority of readers.--Cúchullain t/c 20:12, 8 July 2016 (UTC)

Genre: Hip-hop... and R&B???
Would this album also qualify as R&B? Multiple reviews site R&B elements in the album, but would it actually qualify as R&B? Two of the singles, Marvin's Room and Crew Love are classified as Contemporary R&B and Alternative R&B, respectively.
