Move to Tak Bai Massacre

[edit]

May it need a discussion? I may wait for comments first. --Wake it up (talk) 17:07, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think the term is the most commonly used by neutral observers. Most book sources I skimmed on Google Books refer to it using incident. Massacre appears to be mostly used by rights groups condemning the government's actions, and news reports that repeat the term tend to put it in scare quotes. Personally, I do think massacre isn't quite the right word, as it implies a direct intention to kill. (Lexico (previously Oxford Dictionaries) defines it as "An indiscriminate and brutal slaughter of people".) While the security forces' blatant disregard for life and mistreatment of the victims did lead directly to the deaths, it has never been shown that there was intention to kill. --Paul_012 (talk) 19:23, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. This topic needs more discussion in Thailand.--Wake it up (talk) 18:26, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
