Dubious dates?
[edit]Unsourced dates for his term of office as Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense were given as 31 November 1998 – 16 January 2004. However, he was elected in the 6 December 1998 election, so those dates can't be correct. They do correspond to some dates listed on the TRNC Ministry of Foreign Affairs website: [1]]. In the text of that page, it says: He was elected as a National Unity Party MP for Nicosia on December 6, 1998 and served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defence in the coalition governments of National Unity Party – Communal Liberation Party and National Unity Party (UBP) – Democrat Party (DP) between the years of 1993 – 2003.
– 1993 also can't be correct.
The Turkish version of that page [2] says 31 December 1998 – 16 January 2004. Still, in the text it says he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Defense in the UBP-TKP and UBP-DP Governments in 1999-2003
. I've adjusted the dates and added that as a citation, but it would be good to find some better sources, such as newspaper reports from the time. (Note that the dates added by IP 187.74.72.181 were vandalism.) --IamNotU (talk) 14:22, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
