TVN (Panamanian TV network) → Televisora Nacional – Official channel name VenezuelanSpongeBobFan2004 (talk) 15:48, 24 August 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. Bobby Cohn (talk) 18:31, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Skeptical – Officialness isn't conclusive on Wikipedia. WP:Independent reliable sources (in English) are what we need to establish the WP:COMMONNAME. The logo says "tvn". There is already a different topic targeted by Televisora Nacional, which the nominator just moved out of the way today in an undiscussed move that wasn't mentioned. Is the Venezuelan topic less important than the Panamanian one? — BarrelProof (talk) 19:01, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- But both channels are named Televisora Nacional, the Venezuelan one had to be moved bc the Panamanian channel was also named by that name. However, the thing was that Spanish Wikipedia page on TVN also goes by its full name rather than just TVN. It would be considered if we could rename the page to a different name (as in "Televisora Nacional (Panamanian TV channel")? VenezuelanSpongeBobFan2004 (talk) 20:55, 24 August 2024 (UTC)
- I looked up recent pageviews for this article and the Venezuelan channel. This article gets about twice as many pageviews. Both of them use "tvn" for their logo! But it doesn't seem clear whether people would be looking primarily for "TVN" or "Televisora Nacional" for either one of them. — BarrelProof (talk) 18:48, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- but, the company's name is "Televisora Nacional S.A." and idk what was the Venezuelan channel's company name. The chilean TVN uses its full name, Televisión Nacional de Chile rather than its short name. VenezuelanSpongeBobFan2004 (talk) 20:49, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- I didn't even know there was a similarly named topic for Chile also. It too seems to use "tvn" or "Tvn" as its logo. Wikipedia tries to determine the WP:COMMONNAME in WP:Independent reliable sources (in English), regardless of the official company name or official product name. — BarrelProof (talk) 20:54, 26 August 2024 (UTC)

- Relister's comment: BarrelProof has raised policy-based concerns in regards to WP:COMMONNAME, in addition to some of the proof raised for WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Sources demonstrating COMMONNAME would be beneficial to the discussion. Bobby Cohn (talk) 18:31, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose In NewsBank (which has only La Prensa and in oddly scattered years), there are 13 uses of Televisora Nacional to 521 for TVN. In ProQuest, a search for "TVN" Panama yields 9,791 results compared to 1,580 for "Televisora Nacional" Panama. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 00:57, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
