Complete descriptions of the Ti-Hi concept are hard to find. References to it can be found in various industry reference books ( http://books.google.com/books?id=M0VB0gPVI58C&lpg=PT6&dq=Warehouse%20Distribution%20%26%20Operations%20Handbook&pg=PT65#v=onepage&q=ti%20hi&f=false ). But I'm not sure how to go about citing such a source here.
It seems that Ti-Hi, beyond just referring to the number of boxes on the pallet, also has something to do with methods of stacking boxes on the pallet in order to form a relatively solid and stable pile that resists shifting during shipping. Each tier is rotated relative to the tiers above and below so that the seams interlock in such a way as to avoid the stack containing independent columns of boxes, and also so that boxes do not overhang the footprint of the pallet more than is acceptable (standards vary, but 2 inches seems to be common).63.147.189.178 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 21:29, 29 September 2009 (UTC).
