TDA - Astrodata

[edit]

It seems that the whole world is using TDA named integrated circuits after some cable TV equipment company named Astrodata, later Anaconda-Astrodata used it in 1966 or before for their TDA 120, Transistorized Differential Amplifier, what we now call more commonly an Operational Amplifier. The key difference was the market, however, as the OpAmp was a general use component, while the TDA was either a specialized equipment, or a part of a specialized equipment in the TV industry. It seems as the source as to why the name stuck. There is also an ad showing the Astrodata XDR, Extended Dynamic Range equipment, which is of note, because today the term XDR is used in the same way today.
