General

I linked two species you mentioned in Taxonomy and phylogeny (S. surinama, and S. cyanea), and I also linked "gaster" from Colony Defense. I noticed that sometimes there are short sentences grouped together, which would benefit by combining them to make the article flow better. Also, under Description and identification, you wrote, "They are considered to be paper wasps, so their nests are made out of paper." Perhaps you could change it to: Since their nests are made out of paper, they're considered to be paper wasps. Perhaps this sentence would fit better if moved to the Distribution and habitat section? While recently researching this species, I came across a video that contradicts the information from citation number eight regarding colony defense. It appears the characteristic drumming sound is from the rhythmic beating of the wings. I watched the video several times closely and could find no indication of the wasps dragging their mandibles to make the sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_K7Tp97PsE. Over all I thought that you’re article was very well written and informative. I was very impressed by how detailed you were throughout the piece and genuinely feel as if I learned a lot about your species. As I read the article I made a couple of grammatical changes such as adding commas and splitting up sentences I felt ran too long. I hope these minor changes will just add to the clarity and overall flow of the article. I also linked several words in the article in order to give it more traffic and help readers follow unfamiliar terminology such as “Epiponini.” While your taxonomy section was very good I would have liked to get more information about the genus Synoeca since there are apparently only 5 species of this genus. Under Description and identification I would have also loved to learn a bit more about the sexual dimorphism between males and female or any other differences between castes. Additionally I would have liked to see a little more information about stings. The fact that they have a very painful sting is really interesting and providing a better context about the scale would have made that section even better. Similarly, when you disucss body size you explained that Synoeca septentrionalis is one on the largest Polistes species. Giving an average size comparison would have really solidified this point. I really liked your article. It is very well written, detailed, and covers a wide range of topics. I had a few small suggestions you might want to consider making. First, if possible, it would be nice to have a picture of your wasp as the main picture on the page and use the nest picture elsewhere in the article. In general, it would be nice for there to be a couple more pictures added if you can find any, In terms of links I don’t think it is necessary for you to link every country your wasp is found in. For your references, I think it is better if you don’t cite references in the middle of sentences and if you are using the same reference more than once in a row it is not necessary to cite it multiple times. In the description section you may want to define “infuscate” or reword this as many people probably don’t know what this means. Lastly, if possible it would be nice to expand the sting section such as explain more what a 4 on the scale indicates for a person being stung compared to stings of other wasps. This article was very well written and the few grammar errors I saw I changed. There was also an error or two in regards to italicizing species names so I fixed those as well. Error of Fact?

'When queen number is high, worker number is small, and steps will be taken to inseminate females in order to keep them from reproducing, and they will become workers.' It's unclear how 'steps [...] taken to inseminate females' will '...keep them from reproducing...' Insemination tends to lead to fertilization which would hardly keep the wasps from reproducing.
