[edit]In the third paragraph it is written: "The symphony is a condensed one movement version of a classical four movement symphony and is modeled after Sibelius' Symphony No. 7". The book "Samuel Barber - The composer and his music" by Barbara B. Heyman has a very similar formulation: "The work is a condensed version of the conventional four-movement symphony […], it shares shares a similarity with Sibelius's one-movement Symphony No. 7, which is in fact the model Barber used for this work."
