Cross-generic

Shouldn't we replace "cross-generic" in the lede with "cross-genre" since the meaning of "generic" has strongly changed in the past 150 years. Today, "generic" generally means, "1. plain, vanilla, default, of the most broad and default version imaginable; 2. lacking in precision, often in an evasive fashion; vague; imprecise" (such as a "generic brand" which is basically a no-brand brand). "Generic" is also usually perceived as an insult or criticism for music and other types of entertainment (basically saying the medium is plain, ho-hum, the most basic, uninspired, and imitative attempt as creativity). But here we are using it using its old meaning, referring to taxon, kind, genera, genre (specifically music genres). Usually I am a stickler for traditional word meanings, but in this case, the meaning of the current word has changed too much. "cross-genre" should be the most widely understood word for most people, unlike "cross-generic" which would only really be understood by 'word nerds' like me. — al-Shimoni (talk) 02:32, 14 February 2022 (UTC)
