Merge
[edit]The pages Emblems of Indian states, Symbols of States of India and National symbols of India#States and Union Territories Emblems should be merged with each other as they all deals with same thing.--Ujjwal234goel (talk) 13:57, 21 November 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose, these pages deal with different aspects, which cannot be merged into one article - national and state symbols need to be kept apart. AshLin (talk) 14:19, 1 May 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose, Agree with AshLin ---Yohannvt (talk) 09:42, 10 May 2016 (UTC)
- I live in India and I know much more so I have done the merging work --VarunFEB2003 (talk • contribs) 13:15, 13 June 2016 (UTC)
- The merge situation still seems to be controversial, and more complex than stated, so the discussion should remain open until there is a clearer consensus about the Indian state symbols lists. About the only thing that is clear to do is to merge Symbols of States of India into Symbols of Indian states and territories since those lists are obvious duplicates. As for the merge request on List of Indian state birds, that isn't as easy to proceed with since that list is on the same level as List of Indian state animals, List of Indian state flowers, List of Indian state trees which don't have merge requests. We would need to determine if all these lists are redundant to the main lists and either merge all or none of these. Meanwhile, National symbols of India should be limited to national, not regional, symbols. There is at least one stray single-state lists such as Symbols of Tamil Nadu whose content may be better merged up. Dl2000 (talk) 00:15, 14 June 2016 (UTC)
BUT
[edit]The two articles have different formats. Symbols of Indian states is easier for accessing the whole national information. Whereas Emblems of Indian states can only be illustrated with pictures of the animals.

WAIT
[edit]I'd a look on Emblem of India ( redirected by Emblems of Indian states ), it just provide emblem for every state , not symbols like bird, animal and so.Symbols of Indian states gives data by statewise while Symbols of States of India provide data in single table format , which is easier to access. This format provides easy way to compare and understand the symbols.Whereas Symbols of Indian states provides only 2 symbols for a state and 7+ for other state , which is hard to compare and understand. If pictures and emblems are added to this Symbols of States of India , this will be good for everyone. Kesavan (talk) 13:37, 19 February 2016 (UTC)
- @K7.india: There is no reason not to merge them. Format does not really matter. We do not want to have two articles about exact same thing. Wikiuser13 (talk | contribs) 16:52, 25 February 2016 (UTC)
I am following the be bold policy and have read the guidelines at Wikipedia:Merging The articles qualify under reason no 1 of merging (duplicate). Symbols of Indian states and territories has data which is already present in Symbols of States of India (this article). Therefore I am merging the articles. --VarunFEB2003 Talk • Contribs • Guestbook 14:16, 22 June 2016 (UTC)
