Symbiotic relationships in the media
[edit]I happen to know that symbiotic relationships are not necessarily restricted to biological organisms - the term is used in the media to describe how a media text and a media star (ie film star) can benefit from each other. This is probably described better through an example - a prominent celebrity i.e. David Beckham, placed on the front cover of a football magazine, will raise the reputation of the magazine.However, David Beckham will also benefit as the use of his image in a football magazine will enhance his persona as a football star.
Unfortunately, I can't quite find a capable description for symbiotic relationship in the media, and i can't find any results on google. I'm certain this term exists - i've seen it used in several media studies textbooks, but unfortunately they also rely on examples more than straight definitions, and i don't have any textbooks left. Perhaps there is an alternative term, or am i missing something here? Sanbuster 14:09, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
What about symbiotic relationships between humans and technology? Does that classify as symbiotic?
