Swat became a Princely State in 1926. It did nto recieve a gun salute until 1966, and that was given by the President of Pakistan, nit the Emperor of India.

Was dir district also part of the earstwhile swat princely state?

I have read that dir was itself a princely state so i do not think that it was a part of swat princely state. Nasirk666 (talk) 02:37, 1 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dir had claims to Swat but did not have actual control at the time Swat state was formed. The ruler did have enough diplomatic influence to ha e effected what the ruler was called by the British. RichardBond (talk) 16:37, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
