2 questions:-
Firstly, I entered the story about Rocky Marciano and included a link to a BBC news website which reports that Marciano himself confirmed the event happened. Yet there is a marker to say that a citation is needed. Why is this? What level of verification is required beyond Marciano's recollection of the events and the pub name tying in with what locals say?
Secondly, I entered a couple of sentences on the unusual pronunciation of Wind Street (to rhyme with 'blind', not 'rescind'). These have been removed. Why is this? There is no way that a non-local would know of this unusual pronunciation and a unique historical feature of considerable age seems more relevant than some of the other detail on this page whch relates to short-term retail and town planning matters. - The information about Rocky Marciano has not been removed if youcare to look again. Also the IPA pronunciation of Wind Street is in the opening sentence of that paragraph. I don't see how it is an unusual pronunciation. There are two different pronunciations of Wind (wɪnd and wɑɪnd), none of which are more unusual than the other. Perhaps the first is the incorrectly assumed pronunciation but the correction is already stated. Welshleprechaun (talk) 13:14, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
- I did not say that the info on Rocky Marciano had been removed. I wanted to know why it said "citation needed" when I had provided a link to a BBC website reporting the story. I just want to get the right level of confirmation so that the "citation needed" can be removed. What do I need to provide?
- The IPA pronunciation of Wind Street is not useful to the 95% (more?) of the public do not know what IPA pronunciation is, let alone what the symbols mean. From experience/reports, no-one knows it is 'wɪnd' without being told. Still, if you feel IPA is sufficient, I will not argue this point.Huwbwici (talk) 16:06, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
The map
[edit]The Wales-wide map isn't very good - we need a more detailed map to show the exact location of the city centre in a local context. I'm going to be bold and replace it with the electoral map showing the Castle ward, which includes the overwhelming majority of the city centre, especially the retail core. Panoramic view
[edit]If no-one minds, I'm going to remove this image. I think it's a nice picture, but it doesn't really show the city centre, so would be better placed in the Swansea or Swansea Bay articles. Pondle (talk) 22:49, 29 December 2008 (UTC)
