[edit]@Halvorsen brian: Do you have a citation for the airport closing in 1946? According to Oregon Encyclopedia, a Kaiser shipyard was opened at Swan Island in 1942, and the airport was definitely not operating at the same time (see this photo, for instance). - I believe my source was Oregonian, but I no longer have a subscription their archives. According to Western Flying in 1947 there was some question about reopening the airport since on page 78 it says "Swan Island will probably never be an airport again as a matter of deciding the once beautiful air-field turned into an industrial melee which has now been dumped into President Truman's lap for settlement."[1] —Brian Halvorsen (talk) 01:45, 12 January 2019 (UTC)
