@Yachty4000: You need to explain what you are trying to do here and stop edit warring to force your own way. When I found these articles they were essentially unsourced and had been for seven years. Rather than just send them for deletion, I managed to find sources and expand them. The cited sources https://www.boats.com/reviews/swans-new-racing-one-design/ and https://www.sailmagazine.com/boats/flagship-best-boats-swan-60 indicate that the OD was the 601. These have all been consolidated at Swan 60 because there are insufficient refs for separate articles. Returning them to the mess they were is not a solution. Please explain your issues and provide refs for your proposed changes. - Ahunt (talk) 23:02, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Ahunt: Ok the Swan 60 is three not one hull as you are trying to imply. It completely different boats it cannot be on one page as a page should only have one infobox associated with it. The boats are completely different the Swan 60 is the origional cruiser/racer with highland fling as it most famous example. The Swan 601 is a racer/cruiser made out of carbon lots of stories from the early 2000s about the handful of boats. It should be noted there was a Swan 60 and 601 of both highland fling and spirit of jethou so easy to get references confused. The Swan 60 OD is a World Sailing class highly linked to Gazprom sponsorship.
- In regards to referencing I don't think putting waffle that is unmeaningful and hard to read in something that should be tabulated really adds to wikipedia but I was happy to let other expand the articles. I was happy providing the infobox primary reference and a picture most of which I contributed. Yachty4000 (talk) 23:30, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- If you read the Swan 60 article the way I rewrote it, you will see that is all carefully explained. These are five variants of three different hull designs, it explains that. The reason I combined them all together in one article is because the original articles were virtually unreferenced and a careful search for refs found only enough material to support the 60 FD and 60 S as standalone articles. The choice was doing a combined article or keeping it just to the FD and S and sending the articles on the OD and 601 to drafts or deletion. In fact the two refs I mention above were all I could find on the OD and they indicate that the OD was the 601. They also indicted very few were built.
- I could find very little on the original Swan 60 1994-97, too, as it seems very few of those were built as well.
- I am happy if you want to split off the 601/OD back into its own article as long as you have enough refs to make an article of it, as when I found it it had three sentences and one very poor ref. Without better refs it is not going to survive WP:GNG. The way you had it here does not work as that is all 60 FD and S text, refs and photos. It needs a scratch rewrite if it is to be about the 601/OD.
- As far as the original Swan 60 1994-97 goes, that can be split off too, again, if you have any refs for it, but to date we never had an article on it. That would leave this article about the 60 FD and 60 S, plus the original 60.
- If you have enough refs for a credible article on the 601/OD, why don't you write it and I will be happy to adjust the Swan 60 article to remove the 601 info and point links to the new article? - Ahunt (talk) 23:55, 5 June 2023 (UTC)
- @Ahunt the original swan 60 is the most popular at nearly 30 boats it the hardest to reference as it evolved dimensionally. The other two are one designs in theory. the nautor swan table clearly grouped boats with common hulls together although I backed out of a previous incorrect editor about 4 years ago that didn't like boats like the 62 being grouped with the swan 60. I will do some work on it lots of data is out there it just on old paper marketing documents not the internet. I will have a go. please go to my talk page re world championship again I have a large digital paper archive. Yachty4000 62.254.8.45 (talk) 11:03, 6 June 2023 (UTC)

- I could find very little on the original Swan 60 1994-97, but if you have sufficient refs and want to convert the Swan 60 article to being about that design, I am happy to split the Swan 60 FD and S information into a separate article on that boat at Swan 60 FD. How does that sound? - Ahunt (talk) 11:09, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
