Info received from Italian source concerning the GT380:
Media:---- Provo a dare un contributo a questo "mistery" direttamente dall'Italia. Fino al 1974 compreso, la cilindrata è stata di 371 cc. Dal 1975 fino alla primavera 1980, i modelli in vendita furono di 384 cc. Il motivo? Semplice: una norma italiana che vietava l'importazione di motocicli con cilindrata inferiore a 380 cc e a 170 Kg di peso. Mario Galieni
Additional info received from an Italian source intimately familiar with the GT380:
Until 1974 included, displacement was 371 cc. Since 1975 until the spring of 1980, all models on sale were 384 cc. in effective displacement. Why? It was simple: an Italian law that forbid import of any motorcycles with displacement less than 380 cc. and weight less than 170 kg.
I can confirm this fact and correlated dates. This happened when A. DeTomaso bought Moto Guzzi and Benelli. As a militant "industry captain", really an adventurer, he was able to lobby the government to have this ban implemented. A real shame but Suzuki found the remedy by increasing the bore to 55mm. and modifying the sticker on the frame by stamping it as "171 kg". H2RICK (talk) 18:02, 28 January 2009 (UTC)
Major issues
[edit]In order for Wikipedia article to be considered THE source on anything, as suggested above, then it must itself include bona fide references to qualified sources. This article does not do that. It seems it was written by a fan with little knowledge of how to find or cite sources -- and it's filled with colloquialisms that give the article the tone of a circa 1963 Popular Mechanics article, and its filled with a great deal of first-hand conjecture.842U (talk) 16:56, 25 July 2015 (UTC)
Division of Suzuki GT380
[edit]Like as Deutsch Wikipedia https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_GT_380 , I propose the division of GT 380 page as it has already been done for same motobike GT550 o GT750, with a new page because the GT380 have some many peculiar specific technicaly and in the Italian market for the law of era the Suzuki make a special version with a engine modification, reduction of engine capacity to circumvent the law.5.90.31.122 (talk) 13:53, 6 February 2023 (UTC)
