It is possible that she met Copeau earlier (in 1913), the laudatio mentions that he founded the Vieux-Colombier on Oct 20, 1913 with Charles Dullin, Louis Jouvet (who also did the lighting and direction), Blanche Albane, and Suzanne Bing as members of the troupe. It also is entirely possible that she had a lifelong relationship with Copeau (or was even married to him): first, they seem to have worked closely together for a very long time indeed, and second, it appears as if they had a son named Bernard (b. 1917), although I can't make sense out of the quoting of "naturel" at that site. Emmanuel Bing (talk) 00:28, 17 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Donahue, by the way, is the expert to ask (on all three subjects: Copeau, Bing, and the Vieux-Colombier). Lupo 15:15, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

...which I just did. Lupo 15:25, 22 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The "naturel" probably has something to do with "son origine bâtarde" mentioned in the next sentence. David Sneek 23:57, 23 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I should have looked more closely. Is there a Frenchman or -woman in the house who could get Bernmard Bing's autobiography from the nearest library and check what he writes? Lupo 07:54, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Google also brings up this: "Typescript translation by Norman H. Paul of Copeau's journal from 31st August, 1919, which mentions his son, the author, Bernard Bing, born 1st March, 1917." Shall we put Bernard in the article? David Sneek 10:57, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, that's good enough. However, for any mention of the "origine bâtarde", we'd need to know more about the relationship between Bing and Copeau, so let's leave that one out for the moment, ok? Lupo 13:00, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I put Bernard in the same sentence as Copeau, but kept silent about how they're related. No idle gossip on wikipedia! David Sneek 19:22, 24 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think it would be even safe to say that Copeau was the father of Bernard. "origine bâtarde" just means "illegitimate child" (I hate that term), so it seems they were not married (yet?) when Bernard was born. I just wanted to suggest that we not yet say anything about "illegitimate", but saying that Copeau was the father would be OK. Lupo 19:22, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You are right. I changed it and I also removed my blunder about the girl Claude dying immediately; it was the grandfather she was named after who died... David Sneek 10:21, 26 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
