Can we add any notability support prior to the writing of Susskind's book?

If this was a widely-known dispute involving two top physicists that ran for twenty years, it would be great to add some references in the literature of the field starting at least several years prior to the resolution. Without that, this article might be taken as a vanity page for the book. Unfortunately, I have no idea where to look for such support, since I'm not a relativity theorist.
