Denoting Island of Secrets in the table
[edit]@RavenDreamer: In your last edit, you said that "The precedent is that its random and not easily defined. Thus why I'm treating it as a combination of Ghost Island and the Outpost challenges." I don't quite know what that means. Would you mind elaborating? I understand the Ghost Island comparisons, but not sure where the Outpost comes in. - Katanin (talk) 13:16, 2 June 2019 (UTC)
@Katanin: I'm treating the formatting of Island of Secrets as a combination of formatting for Ghost Island, and how {{Survivor NZ: Thailand}} had formatted the inclusion of the Outpost challenges in the Season Summaries. What I mean by that, is that I am trying to cover all bases, while giving enough information for readers about what's happening in the game. Because after 3 episodes, we can see that what happens on the Island of Secrets are not uniform in nature. Thus, I thought it would be best to consider the nuances. Such as, the first episode, the tribe leaders were given a dilemma, so akin to the one instance in Survivor NZ: Thailand where the Outpost was a dilemma and not a challenge. Instead of a winner or loser, I thought it would be best to just describe what happened (they were given a dilemma for their tribes). With episode 2, Rob played a game of chance and lost, so that fit more with how Ghost Island was treated. Episode 3 offered an opportunity to remain in exile, I treated it as an option of accepting, or declining, akin to how contestants were allowed to decline in partaking in the games at Ghost Island. My goal was to create a hybrid of two different precedents to try and give the Island of Secrets portion of the game its proper dues for the article. I hope that makes sense? - RavenDreamer (talk) 19:06, 2 June 2019 (CAT)
- @RavenDreamer: I see where you're coming from, but those aren't fair comparisons. Both Ghost Island and the Outpost had standard formats, as detailed in the table headers ("Ghost Island game" and "Outpost challenge"), and then any deviations from those norms are noted. With the Island of Secrets, there is no standard format, so it's super confusing in terms of figuring out what the result actually means. The table doesn't tell us what was lost or accepted (unlike, say, "Ghost Island game" or "Island of Secrets temptation" or whatever the case may be). If there were some standard rotation of formats (e.g. dilemma, game of chance, temptation) then I'd be more inclined to include it alongside a column that explains what the particular choice was, but as it stands, it's too unwieldy to explain in its current form. It explains who was exiled, and then if anyone is interested in the particulars, they can read the corresponding summary. As it stands, the fact that Cobus, Paul and Rocco "were each given a tribe dilemma," Rob lost something unspecified and Tania accepted something is way more confusing, as none of the three results actually relate to each other. - @Katanin: I totally get what you're saying. Would a better solution be to develop a table like this:
Episode | Original air date | Challenge winner(s) | Island of Secrets | Eliminated | Finish | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Reward | Immunity | Exiled | Scenario | Result | ||||
1 | May 16, 2019 | None[a] | Ta'alo | Cobus | Cobus, Paul & Rocco were each given a tribe dilemma. |
Lee-Anne | 1st voted out Day 3 | |
Paul | ||||||||
Laumei | ||||||||
Rocco | ||||||||
2 | May 23, 2019 | Laumei[b] | Rob | Game of Chance |
Lost | Paul | 2nd voted out Day 5 | |
Ta'alo | Ta'alo[c] | |||||||
3 | May 30, 2019 | Sa'ula[b] | Tania[d] | Dilemma | Accepted | Ting Ting | 3rd voted out Day 7 | |
Laumei[b] | ||||||||
4 | June 6, 2019 | |||||||
An inclusion of the scenarios that possibly happens for each time a contestant gets sent to the Island of Secrets in the table, to clear up any sort of confusion a reader might have? Apologies if this is not typical Talk page decorum. It is easier for me to express visually at times. - RavenDreamer (talk) 21:11, 5 June 2019 (CAT)
- @RavenDreamer: That's perfectly fine talk page decorum! Thank you for taking the time to draft up the code. Yeah that looks good to me — just have a few minor tweaks. The first and third scenarios seemed to me like choices between "tribal benefit" and "personal benefit." As the season unfolds, more patterns between the different scenarios may emerge, but to me it seems like there have been two so far: games of chance (with three possible outcomes [refuse, win or lose]) and dilemmas/temptations (where players are forced to make a decision between tribal and personal benefit).

Thoughts? — Katanin (talk) 16:40, 6 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Katanin: You're welcome! I like those tweaks, though I might think specifically for episode 1 and 3, that given how the Island of Secrets played out in the premiere, the first dilemma/temptation would feel more like a straight out temptation, while episode 3 is a straight out dilemma as the situation happens after almost a week into the game. Whereas, choosing flint or an Idol clue is more temptation as the three had barely spent any allowed talking time with their original tribes. BUT, I will use your table right now before the 4th episode starts in a few minutes. Thank you so much! — RavenDreamer (talk) 18:52, 6 June 2019 (CAT)
Season logo
[edit]I noticed the image of the season logo that was uploaded a few months back was taken down due to citing issues. Would someone please kindly upload the season logo with proper citing, like all the other seasons' Wikipedia pages have done? Thanks. 50.232.92.83 (talk) 13:56, 4 September 2019 (UTC)
Uh...where's the season logo? It's been a couple of months since it was taken down. 173.79.201.217 (talk) 19:09, 21 September 2019 (UTC)
Season logo, revisited
[edit]Any updates as to when the season's logo is going to get re-uploaded to this article? Last time, it was taken down due to a lack of proper sourcing, and every other season's articles have the season logo added to the infobox, so I am wondering about this. 50.232.92.83 (talk) 16:11, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
