Problematic
[edit]The problems considering the problematic nature of the problems is frankly, a bit problematic. You could assist in tackling these problems by being a bit less problematic with your use of the problematic word, problematic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 160.32.123.205 (talk) 02:35, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Undiscussed page move
[edit]This page has been moved to "Dutch Surinam" without discussion in a way that isn't an obvious improvement (and by an editor who has been involved in multiple undiscussed page moves that were subsequently reverted). I haven't worked on this page so I'd like to just invite any editors who have worked on this page to express whether they agree with the current name or not. I assume the previous name "Surinam (Dutch colony)" was chosen to reflect a real name, followed by a disambiguating parenthesis. R Prazeres (talk) 19:41, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- I'm in agreement with the previous poster. "Surinam" and "Dutch Guyana" were the names by which Surinam was known in the English-speaking world when it was a colony under Dutch control[1][2]. "Dutch Surinam" seems to be a novel portmanteau of these two names, and thus nonconform with Wikipedia's naming guidelines. Oroonoka (talk) 13:19, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Is the intro section overly convoluted/verbose?
[edit]Hi folks, I was creating an article related to Surinam and opened this article to check something, and -- to me, the whole intro section is a bit convoluted and difficult to read with many dates and names thrown into the first few sentences. What do people think about simplifying the prose a bit to give the basics about what and where it is, and how long it lasted, before throwing all that extra info? I don't know enough about it to feel confident in doing it myself. --Dan Carkner (talk) 20:15, 10 August 2021 (UTC)
