Classifying procedures
[edit]The section § Other includes a number of non-laser, minimally invasive surgical treatments (MISTs). Their mention belongs in the subsection § Non-laser treatments. However, moving them there will show that the present division between laser and non-laser treatments is far from even; the use of lasers being just one modality for achieving tissue ablation. This is presently a fast-moving field, with variant new techniques being invented every few months on average.
Accordingly, I suggest a better classification of minimally invasive surgical treatments (MISTs) for BPH would be:
- Laser ablation
- VLAP
- PVP
- HoLAP
- HoLEP
- Non-laser ablation
- TUMT
- TUNA
- Aquablation
- WVTT
- HIFU
- Urolift
