[edit]Barracuda (Torpedo)
The Barracuda, named after the dreaded fish, is a German torpedo powered by supercavitation technology to move at unprecedented speeds to an underwater missile - according to developers over 800 kilometers per hour[1]. It was first introduced at the IMDEX conference in Singapore in 2000 2005 by the German company Diehl BTG Defense after a series of successful tests. According to the developers, the barracuda is not only faster than its Russian predecessor, the Shkval, but also has greater maneuverability and accuracy, and claims that it can also intercept Shkval and other torpedoes.
Description of the torpedo
From the little information revealed, the torpedo engine is a solid-fuel engine, and the torpedo is equipped with an inertial navigation system and an internal unit. During the underwater movement, the barracuda produces an envelope of air bubbles called the Cavitation bubble, which significantly reduces the drag of the water, and with its powerful rocket engine, it can cruise at more than 800km/h. One characteristic that distinguishes the torpedo from others is its sophisticated guidance system, which is equipped with optical fiber gyroscopes and automatic homing systems. During the Barracuda experiments he demonstrated "steady motion both in a straight line and during a curve path." Henk Poley (talk) 21:55, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
