Gossip

Hmm... I don't mean to be a spoilsport for Jacob .C, but there is absolutely nothing confirmed about this game, only that it is on the Wii and will have some level of online support. No characters have ever been mentioned. For all we know, Nintendo might decide to create a new, original cast for the game, forgetting about everyone else. (I'm ignoring the fact that the article is riddled with typos and formatting errors, but that can be easily fixed and is not the point of my criticism.) I recommend we revert this to the redirect, but I'm not going to do it unless someone else agrees (I don't want an edit war on my hands). --ZeromaruTC 18:52, 9 October 2005 (UTC)

The article is now in "decent" shape. Dread Lord CyberSkull ✎☠ 04:29, 10 October 2005 (UTC)

Sonic & Tails

I can guarantee you all right now that Sonic and Tails WILL NOT be in the next Smash Bros. game. They are owned by Sega. Nintendo only includes characters owned by themselves: no royalties were ever paid to other companies. Now stop adding them as "strong contenders". --ZeromaruTC 03:19, 18 October 2005 (UTC)

Ok I Will Stop Putting Them As "Strong Contender" But You Must First Stop Putting Koopa Troopa And Ridley Down As "Strong Contenders". Thank You For Your Cooperation.207.200.116.6 21:46, 19 October 2005 (UTC)William Burch

I never did in the first place, but I think that both Ridley and Koopa Troopa WERE in the Nintendo Power poll, whereas Sonic and Tails were not. Indeed, even if they weren't (Ridley, Koopa Troopa) in the poll, Nintendo can still use them and they are popular choices among fan communities, so I have no objection to their mention. I will not personally re-add them, though. --ZeromaruTC 22:43, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

Thank You, And Do You Have Any Clue Who Wrote All Those Other Charcters, I Highly Doubt There Were In The Poll. I Will Not Take The Info Away However(It Was 50% Good And 50% Bad) Untill Someone Agrees With Me. 207.200.116.6Willaim Burch

Actually, it says here:

'When asked about the possibility of Sonic the Hedgehog appearing in the game as well, Shigeru Miyamoto said: "There are probably possibilities for other third parties as well, and it maybe that even know there are corporate discussions going on about including some of these other characters.'

It's a little bad on the spelling, but still. I know a few people don't trust IGN that much, but it's something. I.M.Fearless 13:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

STOP ADDING CHARACTERS

There are NO, I repeat, ABSOLUTELY NO characters (or anything like date, developer, ratings, and the like) confirmed for this game. The ONLY reason Wario and Toad are even mentioned is because Peach and Bowser got in Melee after the same poll. I'm going to request this page be locked from editing until Nintedo starts announcing information, 'cause all these speculative edits is just flat-out insulting. --ZeromaruTC 15:31, 22 October 2005 (UTC)

There has been nothing about it on google, any mainstream gaming news site, or even Nintendo.com. The only event during this time was an after TGS event, where developers showed off their games. Nintendo themselves had a couple of games there, Mario Party 7 being the main one. No conferences what so ever. This is a blatent lie. 65.33.242.23 05:59, 15 November 2005 (UTC)Legoman727

ESRB Rating

Well, this game will be surely rated M for Mature, because this one may contain some worse content that did not happen in Super Smash Bros. or Super Smash Bros. Melee. --ZachKudrna18@yahoo.com

Plus, Nintendo wouldn't make a SSB game that didn't appeal to younger audiences, and SSBM was only rated T because E 10+ hadn't been invented yet. --Ac1983fan
No way would Nintendo be Mature most of thier audience for that game is teens and older children. If they rated it Mature they would have virtually lost half thier audience. 70.118.94.204 13:18, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Call me a pedantic little git if you like, but does anyone really think that link to the "Fan Created Character Database" - a fan site that's choc-a-bloc with characters who, frankly, are merely characters SOME fans would LIKE to see in the game- is worthy of inclusion? The number of characters on the page is ridiculous. I assume Revolution (the machine) will be powerful, but the page is simple asinine. Plus some of the characters are trivial and pointless. For example, how is "Vacuum Luigi" not just Luigi with the Poltergust 3000? Most of the characters are all-but-unknown and Jessie and James from Team Rocket are listed, despite being mainly animé characters (I'm aware they have appeared in 2 games, but I think it's a given they won't be playable characters in SSBR). Wikipedia doesn't link to fan fiction (or shouldn't, at any rate), so why should it link to this site? Bear in mind, once the game is released, the site will HAVE to be removed from these listings for gross inaccuracy unless it vastly alters. Do we really have to delay the deletion by a year? --L T Dangerous 22:16, 15 November 2005 (UTC)

Characters Users Speculate to be in Super Smash Brothers Brawl

Okay, we all already know everyone thinks Wario, Toad, Koopa Troopa, and Ridley will be on thier but is it true? I suspect Toad will not be on the game because he is in one of Princess Peach's moves. I also suspect the Koopa Troopa will not be in the game either because his shell has been an item since SSB1. Wario is definitly a contender though. But, has anyone considered Diddy Kong? You can come up with enough moves and he'll only be the second DK Chaacter. I've also had weak premitions about Baby Mario and Luigi could this be thier debut? And for you losers who don't that Sonic and Tails are licensed by SEGA and that the SSB series only releases characters licensed by them. If i had my way Dr. Mario would be out. He is just a copy of Mario with a different costume and his fireball is a pill.

H-BOMB 18:53, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I really doubt that Diddy Kong could be included in Smash Brothers as I'm pretty sure he was invented by Rareware. As for me i wouldnt like to see Sonic or Tails as having non-nintendo character would kind of ruin it for me. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by {} (talk • contribs) .

I'm sorry you're right about Diddy Kong but please sign your posts! And i totally agree about Sonic and Tails. H-BOMB 13:26, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

However, Diddy Kong is part of the Donkey Kong series of games, so he is technicaly owned be nintendo.--acfan-Talk to me 21:22, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm expecting Pikachu and Jigglypuff to make a return. They were in the other 2 SSB games. I also think another Pokémon will be a playable character, possibly Rayquaza (it seems to be one of the more popular Pokémon these days). I wouldn't mind having Ridley as a playable character, either. -- PinkDeoxys 21:57, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree with you on Pikachu and Jigglypuff. I don't think Rayquaza will be the new Pokémon (if there is one)because they have never put in flying characters. That would be toatlly unfair to all other characters but he could have to due with a stage or Pokéball. I want to see Squirtle. And Ridley might make an apperance. H-BOMB 13:25, 28 March 2006 (UTC)

For me, it seems to be about the iconic Pokémon. Pikachu is the mascot of the franchise; Jigglypuff (in the anime) is pretty well-known for being the singing Pokémon; and Mewtwo, well Mewtwo, he's the big bad guy, the creature who can think and talk and is, quite frankly, one of the coolest villans ever. He was the best character in Pokemon: The First Movie. I'm guessing that Groudon or Kyogre would be the strongest contenders, as they are non-flying and are the box art covers for Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. - Hbdragon88 00:13, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I think Groudon could be someone to keep Bowser in check but no way on Kyogre he dosen't have legs. He's just a big fish. He wouldn't work. But I've heard good things about Crystal. H-BOMB 13:30, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

There would be too many Pokemon, there is no way Groudon or Kyogre are getting in. If anybody, they're just going to add Raichu. I would really like to see Banjo-Kazooie, Crystal, and maybe even Bowser Jr.. Or, what about Jack from the Harvest Moon Series. Why not? Another thing, and I hope no one steals this idea, is the Goron, Zora, and Deku masks from Majoras Mask. Imagine picking up one and becoming Goron-Bowser, or Zora-Fox? Wild stuff. But please, please dont steal my idea! Ive been working on ideas for the next game since a few months after SSBM came out. Thats what you call fanhood! --Supermariorobot 04:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

A quote from the template: This article or section contains information about a computer or video game under development.

It is likely to contain information of a speculative nature, and the content may change dramatically as the game's release approaches and more information becomes available. Note the part where it says information of speculative nature. Toad and Wario are fine.RememberMe? 18:34, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, the fact that they were the top choices in the poll is fine, but saying that it's almost certain that they'll be included in the game is not. The "information of a speculative nature" isn't for people to just add whatever they think will wind up in the game. It's there in case a news article breaks out with supposedly leaked information or other similar tidbits. July 2006 Release Date

This release date has nothing backing it up, so I changed it. The Revolution's launch date hasn't even been released yet, and there's currently only one person on the game development team. Takuthehedgehog 23:05, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree that there is no proof of a release date, but currently one person on the development team? IF you're refering to that statement in the IGN article, it says AS OF MAY 2005 WHEN THE GAME WAS ANNOUNCED there is one person on the team, Sakurai. It is clear that this is no longer the case and that production has started before November. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 199.126.137.209 (talkcontribs) .
it appears people from Konami are helping with the production. other various thoughts that dont seem to be here yet: Solid Snake (3rd party Konami character) will be playable. Nintendo person said other 3rd party chars possible. no sources from me. i'm aware this entry is probably totally inapropriate with little polish or anything. just figured i'd put some info here. i'm tired. oh, and the game will not be a launch title anymore and online is slightly sceptical (Nintendo person said 4 player online can be dificult or something.) but i think with the release date moved to probably 2007, the time will be spent to make sure online works and works well. g'night. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 66.115.235.10 (talkcontribs) .

Name change?

Since the Nintendo Revolution has been re-named Nintendo Wii I was wondering if we should still call this Super Smash Bros. Revolution. Does Samus Aran (Metroid) count as confirmed?

After all, she was in the trailer thing (in her power suit) firing a large blast at the fighters. Does that qualify her as a confirmed returning character? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 67.164.82.217 (talkcontribs) .

Yes indeed. -- ReyBrujo 11:16, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Samus Aran was in Melee. The new character is Zero Suit Samus (wearing the skin-tight blue jumpsuit rather than the orange armour), and is a different character in a similar manner to how Young Link is separate from old Link. smurrayinchester(User), (Talk) 18:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
In the games, the Aria Suit Samus is a completely different player, other than the fact they are both Samus. The Aria version is weak to Ice and Fire and everything, and has a manual blaster gun (as shown). The blue suit was originally modelled by Samus in Metroid Fusion if you completed the game in under 2 hours. It appears again in Metroid: Zero Mission, when Samus's suit was damaged I think (I'm not sure, she definitely used it in the action part of the game.) Anyway, that's the difference between Samus Aran and Aria Suit Samus. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 20:54, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
One thing I want to know... Zero Suit Samus (And all the other new confirmed characters) seem like the kind of characters that would be secret. Too many screenshots to be fair use

The number of screenshots, organised as a gallery at the bottom, neither make the article better nor are likely kosher by fair use law. They should probably be all removed. --Improv 15:24, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

It's a collection of stills from the E3 trailer. Just link to the trailer and an offsite collection of stills and we should be clear. Nifboy 21:08, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
I vote to remove the images (some) from here, but leave them on the pedia, they all seem to have been added to the relevant character articles. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 21:10, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
I disagree. Many articles have TONS more pictures in their galleries (Shadow the Hedgehog (video game) comes to mind). It's fine the way it is. RememberMe? 22:42, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Actually, there is a new discussion about galleries after a first support for removing them from articles. So, better not to take measures before anything is settled. However, I suggest setting a limit. Since the game hasn't been released, I would think 8 is a good number. That would prevent having big galleries of just promotional images. Choose images carefully trying not to duplicate "characters". In example, don't upload images where only one character is seen, instead upload one with two or more to make more room for other images without having to have one image per character. Just a suggestion. -- ReyBrujo 06:02, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
But single character images work for character articles, so don't stop. I do agree with Rey though. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 07:06, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Reminder to be careful with future trailers and characters

Samurai Goroh, Wolf O'Donnell, Ridley, etc. all appeared in the Melee opening, yet are not playable in the game. Toad was thought to be playable for a long time too, even after it was proven untrue. All the characters seen so far are going to be in for sure, but let's watch out to make sure we don't post someone as confirmed too soon. Voice of Treason 22:52, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Friend Code Section

This seems to be more of a discussion about the relevance of friend codes rather than anything specific about Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Kelestar 07:05, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

Yes i agree, it was so close to deleting the whole section because all it talks about how Friend Codes will work on Wii and not how it will on Smash Bros. which is what needs to be there but since we know nothing about it there really does not need to be anything there. Also "Sakurai said his team would try to take the game online, but he thinks it would be a hard to make four-player online work." -GameSpot http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/supersmashbros/news.html?sid=6150506 and some other place said no 4 player online but maybe 2 player. So instead of having info about Friend codes some one needs to talk about how the developer may have a hard time making the game a 4 player online game and it may only have a online mode for 2 players. Was that sarcasm? I am asking for no more characters, new or otherwise, to be added. We need some form of proof before any new characters are to be added, whether on the talk page or in a reference. Cheers, Highway Rainbow Sneakers 08:30, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
