Women's Delegation to Afghanistan, March 2022
[edit]Viswanath traveled to Afghanistan in March 2022 along with an interfaith/diverse delegation of 8 American women including Ruth Messinger, Medea Benjamin, Rev. Chloe Breyer, Daisy Khan and Masuda Sultan. The purpose of the trip was to advocate for women’s rights and to deliver humanitarian aid.

In August 2022, Sunita Viswanath co-founded Abaad: Afghan Women Forward (www.abaadafghanistan.org) along with Masuda Sultan. An article was published in the New Yorker on August 24, 2022 (https://www.newyorker.com/news/dispatch/the-afghan-women-left-behind) which detailed the reasons Viswanath and Sultan left WAW and launched Abaad. 216.158.248.122 (talk) 18:51, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
