I think the previous versions of this page (that list the performers by year; not Artofboredom's revisions, though) is a much better format for this type of article. It's useful for seeing who played in the past. I read the page cited about how "Wikipedia isn't a database or directory," but I don't think the rules there forbid this kind of list. It's similar to listing an actor's filmography or a band's list of albums. Soave (talk) 21:00, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
- That short summary is fine. For filmographies you'll notice the correct format is "Selected filmography". — OcatecirT 02:15, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- How should one determine which performances are included or not? For example, Ben Kweller is not included in 2007, and Cirque Berzerk is not included in 2008. In addition, as described in other crap exists, this article should be made consistent with the format that is used on the overwhelmingly large majority of similar articles. I was not able to find this short list format used on any other festival article. Artofboredom (talk) 05:13, 18 May 2008 (UTC)

As the AVP of Concerts & Events and thus the "promoter" of the festival, I am suggesting that the page for the Sun God Festival be re-opened, or that I myself may at least have access to it to update information, edit images, add photos, etc. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Morbono (talk • contribs)
- Alex, you would probably do better not to edit the page directly yourself due to Wikipedia's conflict of interest policy. However, feel free to make suggestions on the talkpage. --Cybercobra (talk) 06:11, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Not done: requests for changes to the page protection level should be made at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection. --Cybercobra (talk) 06:11, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Fair enough, however with matters regarding the logo, neutral event attendee information, and providing professional photography from the event I would have to argue otherwise. As of now, for instance, the article contains a year-specific logo image. Such image replacement would come solely from myself or my office. Additionally, the photo, for example, could easily be replaced with one from the campus newspaper or other such professional cameras. Morbono (talk) 19:38, 17 October 2009 (UTC)alex
- All information added needs to be independently verifiable, so you must provide an independent source to back up your numbers. As far as photography, all photos added need to have a free use license, like the creative commons license, so if it is professional photography you will need that photographer to give permission for it to be free use. Still, you should avoid editing articles that you have a direct involvement in. — OcatecirT 20:10, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, Wikipedia allows fair use in many cases, so he'd probably be OK to upload said images with a fair use rationale. We would then probably be more than happy to integrate them. --Cybercobra (talk) 03:14, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, but it is discouraged. By having pictures that someone still owns rights to it defeats the purpose of a free encyclopedia thats can be used in any context. — OcatecirT 05:40, 19 October 2009 (UTC)

If the images are entirely free use, I fail to see why I should not have access to edit the page myself. Frankly there have been significant additions & changes to the event in the past year, which should be reflected in the article. To not is simply preventing the article from maintaining its accuracy. Warning - I may have posted this with the wrong heading, but the essence is that I should be able to edit this article, given my position. The upcoming 2010 festival is approaching rapidly. Content on this page remains vastly outdated. I received no response regarding my previous points of having entirely free use photos/logos and being the promoter of the event in question. Simple event details need to be reflected and I would like to hear why this page is no longer open for editing. Morbono (talk) 05:30, 28 January 2010 (UTC)Morbono

Pending changes
This article is one of a number selected for the early stage of the trial of the Wikipedia:Pending Changes system on the English language Wikipedia. All the articles listed at Wikipedia:Pending changes/Queue are being considered for level 1 pending changes protection.
The following request appears on that page:
Many of the articles were selected semi-automatically from a list of indefinitely semi-protected articles. Please confirm that the protection level appears to be still warranted, and consider unprotecting instead, before applying pending changes protection to the article. |
Comments on the suitability of theis page for "Pending changes" would be appreciated.
Please update the Queue page as appropriate.
Note that I am not involved in this project any much more than any other editor, just posting these notes since it is quite a big change, potentially

Past Headliners
Please do not list all (or your favorite) acts that were associated with a certain year. Headliners are literally the artists at the head line of a concert poster's lineup listing, or at least the artists that are part of the biggest font size.
For example, Sun God 2010: Drake was the only headliner. His name is the only one in the head line, and his font size is the biggest. I agree that even Michelle Branch was a better performer, but we must adhere to the same definition of headliner. - Bottle — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.67.44.115 (talk) 22:35, 7 November 2011 (UTC)
Controversy and changes section
This article needs a significant expansion that I may undertake in a few months' time. In particular, the festival will see significant changes for 2015, partly because a student died of drug overdose following Sun God 2014. If someone else is willing to do this, go ahead.
I think this article could be split into the following sections:
- History
- Format
- Controversies
- Past performers
