Missing SCJP
[edit]There was definitely an SCJP prior to CX-310-025 - I know because I failed it. The pass mark was 80% and they dropped the pass mark a week later. I remember being it summer of 2000, so that's inline with the article. (I passed the test with a score of 88% eventually :) Anyone else remember this? --Brindy666 (talk) 23:30, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- More evidence here: http://www.jchq.net/essentials/full.htm - see the section on "About this document" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brindy666 (talk • contribs) 23:49, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
Pricing, renaming, misc.
[edit]The prices here are quite out of date. For instance the article lists SJCP (OCP Java Programmer) as £150. Currently (08 August 2011) it is £202. Perhaps all pricing should be removed from the article.
I agree with "Possible Typo" below. I'd add that the phrase "entry level" is slightly pejorative. What do others think?
Shouldn't this entire page be renamed to something to do with Oracle Certifications, or merged into the lacklustre Oracle Certification Program?

Possible Typo
[edit]The page reads, "The Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) exam is the entry level Java exam and is a prerequisite to a number of the 1Z0-851."
Was the sentence supposed to end with something like "a prerequisite to a number of other certifications; its number is 1Z0-851."
No Updates
[edit]Information available in here has not been updated for a while. It will be really helpful if someone can add the information relevant to new exams(names) introduced by oracle to matching Sun exams. (e.g: SCJP => OCPJP) 61.245.172.31 (talk) 17:23, 20 April 2011 (UTC)
Master merge
[edit]I've merged all the SCP-related articles to there. —Quarl (talk) 2006-01-13 03:07Z
Statistics
[edit]I'd like to see some statistics that correlate years of experience with the different certifications (i.e. A programmer would generally have around 2 years work experience before taking the SCJP). Also, it would be nice if there were some stats that can indicate an expected increase in earnings for each certification. I googled around for a bit, but not much luck.
AfD discussion
[edit]Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/J2EE certification program (aeropagitica) (talk) 15:58, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
From merge:
- J2EE certification program
- Sun announced in July 2002 a Java Verification Program for testing enterprise applications to ensure their compatibility with all :application server software products that comply with the J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) standard.
- See also: Matrix of Application Servers
This is not relevant to java certification. At best a link on J2EE to here could be added, but this definately does not belong in this article. Chiok 17:13, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Update Suggestions:
Will this site add infomation on certs such as the SCSA and the years of experience with SUN networks such certs represent?
Are there any references to affirm certification currency such as many other certification bodies also do?
Don Turnblade MS, CISSP, SCSA(12 years experience Solaris 5.1,6,7,8,9,10.)
Moved pending source
[edit]I've moved the following from the article pending a reliable source:
- The SCJD is a useful member in the teams, creating distributed desktop applications and should be able to write such systems or their parts, without additional supervision. Even employers that are sceptical enough not to count the SCJP at all, still count SCJD as equal to the two years of the practical work in the serious programming industry [1][citation needed].
