Contradiction
[edit]This article appears to be at odds with the other articles on taurine biosynthesis. Is cysteic acid an additional substrate, or is it an intermediate that's missing from the diagram? --Ipatrol (talk) 18:05, 7 August 2018 (UTC)
- The contradiction was due to a wrong reference to cysteic acid, where it should have been cysteine sulfinic acid. The confusion arises because cysteic acid and cysteine sulfinic acid are both on pathways leading to taurine. However, cysteic acid is decarboxylated directly into taurine (see here).
