Somebody please clean up this article. It should be about the Sule Pagoda, but it appears that somebody has pasted his or her essay on Burmese buddhism / Buddhism and Burmese politics and Engaged Buddhism, with the justification that it contains the world 'Sule Pagoda' from time to time. Most of the wording is entirely irrevelent, and appears more of an geopolitics or urban planning or religious studies essay. Uthantofburma (talk) 13:28, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
I have modified the article as much as I can. Unfortunately, I do not have much referencing. Somebody who has referencing for the Myth surrounding Sule Pagoda, please contribute. The previous version, honestly, was extremely off topic and had some conclusions which I found to be somewhat offensive. Using terms as "Orientalist fantasies" and such are quite monolithic approaches to a multi-faceted issue. The author of the previous version provided very little information on both the actual facts / information or Sule's role in Burmese politics. Honestly, I felt he/she yapped on about Engaged Buddhsim (this is an article on a pagoda, as I said above) and Orientalism. We appreciate Edward Said and Rhys-Davids' contributions but...you don't dedicate nearly 80% of the wording to those topics.
I am doing my best as a Burmese to provide detailed and good information about my city and my country. Apologies if I have offended anybody, but I have a duty to remove irrelevant information. The work was great, but sadly, wrong place.Uthantofburma (talk) 18:17, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
