Talk:Subway party

The term "subway party" has appeared in numerous peer-reviewed publications. It is not a neologism; the idea has simply gotten more attention as of late. Subway parties have been happening for as long as there have been subways, perhaps over a century. This article is certainly appropriate. Pyrotix 02:56, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

I would like to point out something from WP:NFT:

• "... crazes, fads, and fashions can end up in Wikipedia. But only if someone first sits down and researches them, and publishes a book, an academic paper, or a magazine/journal article detailing that research. Then the subject becomes eligible for Wikipedia."

Ok can you site a peer-reviewed source that substantiates the claim: "This phenomenon is as old as subways themselves." Otherwise I'd have to say this constitutes original research.

I'm also concerned that most of the links seem to be to blogs and other (imho) nonsense, which seems like using Wikipedia for promotion rather than documenting a real-world event. Zero sharp 21:11, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

I agree re:the age of the phenomenon. That may be original research and I have edited it. However, I believe if it can be proved that the opening of the New York City Subway in 1904 was at least somewhat festive and party-like, you could call the event a subway party.

Only two of the Links are to blogs; the rest are to subway party-related websites in various cities, which is the purpose of the Links section. I could change it to "Subway party-related Websites" if that would be more appropriate. There is also a New York Times article that might be more appropriate as a Source instead of a Link, but it was the only substantiation I could find to the claim that this phenomenon has indeed occurred in San Francisco. Article name

I think that the name should be "subway party" and not "subway parties". Is there some reason for keeping the current name? Parudox 21:24, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Totally kickass
