To Arsenal fan, have you yourself tried to find source before thinking it does not meet gng? Don't demand without searching by yourself. If you fail to find to sources, you are welcome to demand.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:50, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Other than match reports what else it there? Other than that I can find small articles about a few teams that may participate but nothing major that would allow it to pass GNG. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:21, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
This tournament is at national-level, it is not a small town-based upstart tournament. And this has been going for some decades now. In this article, we are talking about something which has more spread than, say, Kansas Shrine Bowl or Bayou Bowl (which have many more online newspaper/other sources available). wp:systemic bias? May be. Anyway, this tournament easily pass GNG. If not convinced, you are welcome to take this to AfD.--Dwaipayan (talk) 21:20, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
First off, WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS and that is a different sport. One of those tournaments have been running for more than 40 years and only got a page less than 3 months ago. Whether they are notable or not is not my problem. Second, understand GNG when it comes to association football. Match reports are just routine coverage. Of course, this is mainly said for players but it can be used in this situation as well. Right now this tournament is just a youth tournament that is not even held by the official football federation, nor any athletic association in India. Yes, it is historic, yes it has been around for a long time, but that makes no bloody difference. Right now, what this deserves, is a sub-section in Football in India. Yes, their is no section but it can be created. Other than match reports for the final rounds of the tournament and a few articles about "such and such are in the Subroto Cup" nothing else is available. So with all this in mind, that is why it needs a redirect. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 21:38, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I admit I don't know about the association football notability criteria. However, I am not even going to that. This article meets WP:GNG. The Ministry of Sports and Youth Afffair supports the torunament. Also, I agree that we don't know what exactly is the governing body (you told it is not AIFF). Please see http://pib.nic.in/newsite/erelease.aspx?relid=53430.--Dwaipayan (talk) 22:25, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Redirect to Football in India.

[edit]

This page is about a tournament for schools in India. The tournament is not affiliated with the main football body in India, the All India Football Federation and it does not pass GNG as there are no articles of worth available other than match reports which do nothing but prove that this tournament exists.

I propose that this page be redirected to the Football in India page where we can make a small sub-section under the "Youth football in India" section for this tournament. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 19:36, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it ia school-level tournament. The schools compete at a national level. And it meets GNG due to its coverage in mainstream media for decades. SO, I strongly oppose th emove mentioned above. The article easily meets GNG, and deserves stand-alone article; Times of India says, it is "The premier age-group soccer tournament of the country". Affiliation (or not) with AIFF does not determine GNG! Bye the way, a small subsection in Football in India, describing different yout football in the country is very much welcome.--Dwaipayan (talk) 20:22, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
They invite clubs from other countries. These international sides are all invitational. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 05:21, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
