Subgum is described in this article as "a type of American Chinese dish in which one or more meats or seafood are mixed with vegetables, and sometimes also noodles, rice, or soup."
This describes virtually every dish offered by every Chinese-American restaurant I've ever been to on the east coast of the US (and a lot of non-Chinese-American restaurants, for that matter). Surely this can be a little more specific? Because if this is really the definition of subgum, then subgum is not a useful word. 22:54, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
on top of which, most usage in the US is as "subgum chow mein" and "subgum chop suey", each of which are usually more expensive than the other chow meins and chop sueys. does it basically just mean "house" or "special", then? 66.30.47.138 (talk) 18:20, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
