[edit]There should really be some mention of the use of strings to find things in programs which hadn't been meant to be left in there. This is a reasonably common use of the program in reverse-engineering and so on. Chris Cunningham 15:24, 25 July 2006 (UTC)

Problems with this article
[edit]Mostly everything can be disputed ... most or all "facts" (works on object files, ends strings with NUL, configurable printables, is part of Gnu ...) apply to one implementation or another, and these are intermixed. JöG (talk) 20:48, 4 September 2008 (UTC)
