Square Ball
[edit]Did anyone else ever play square ball at school? I see it isn't mentioned in the article. If i can find a good reference i might add it myself, but otherwise i wouldn't know where to start in trying to explain it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.195.132.90 (talk) 11:52, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Street football World Championship 2006
[edit]Street football World Championship 2006, is a tournament where a selected team of each country in the world participates to become the best team in Street Football. Knowing this, i think that Street football World Championship 2006 should be made into a single article just like any other competition, (example: 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup). —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tavo157 (talk • contribs) 04:03, August 26, 2007 (UTC)

WTF
[edit]This is talking about soccer. what the hell does that have to do with football? i know they call in futbol in europe but wtf? you cant make an article which only speaks to europe. re name this article street soccer. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.75.154.39 (talk) 20:31, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- Almost every country in the world that speaks English says Football, apart from America and possibly Canada. Surely, if you call it Soccer, it is only relevant to North America, where this is hardly important as this is not the most popular sport. - 2o-DeMoN-o8t*c*a*wp 16:30, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with Alistairjh. The lad is probably american. He is also being pretty arrogant because we have to rename it of the name co-incidence with an American game, which, in fact doesn't even involve a foot that much. —Preceding unsigned comment added by S370790 (talk • contribs) 21:28, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Only Americans refer to Association Football as 'soccer', a term derived from 1920s English public school slang. This is because they think American Football is a global game, whereas it is a tiny minority sport outside the US (Baseball is the same - 'World Series' my arse). For everybody else in the world, 'football' = Association Football. I wish Americans would realise how blinkered (sorry ('blindered')) and ignorant their attitude is.
- BTW, please don't use offensive headings like What The Fuck in Wikipedia. It's not clever and doesn't impress anybody.--80.176.142.11 (talk) 19:50, 27 August 2009 (UTC)
- Pfft! 'futbol' in Europe! You are just thinking about Spanish due to the amount of Mexicans in your country. There are many variants in Europe because we have many countries: there's voetball fussball, futebol, calcio etc. All English-speaking nations except the States use football in formal administartion of the game, even those where football generally means another game (Ireland, Canada, Australia). - "The word "soccer" was in fact the most common way of referring to association football in the UK until around the 1970s, when it began to be perceived incorrectly as an Americanism.[40] (cite Kuper, Simon; Szymanski, Stefan (2009)" -- Football_(word) Yclept:Berr (talk) 01:51, 17 July 2014 (UTC)

Headers and Volleys
[edit]The section about some children from Manchester playing Headers and Volleys wearing certain brands of shoes is highly irrelevant, in my opinion, to the article and should be removed. Does anybody agree? At best, it should be on its own page rather than making this page untidy. Happy to discuss. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.255.142.116 (talk) 16:31, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Street football → Street football (association football) – Much like how football can refer to Association football, Gridiron football, or others, there is no primary topic for Street football. 162 etc. (talk) 06:50, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support the American term has 1,182 views compared with only 1,157[[1]] for the association football term. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:23, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support per nom. We should also move the other article to Street football (Gridiron football) while we're at at—blindlynx 22:51, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 08:57, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Support no PRIMARYTOPIC, and also move Street football (American) to Street football (American football) to match. GiantSnowman 09:01, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose. Wikipedia takes a worldwide view and association football is the clear primary topic by long-term and glovbal significance. -- Necrothesp (talk) 15:50, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
