I am a resident of the community, living at 1162 E. Georgia Street. I am definitely NOT a historian but I have a great deal of interest in the history of the area and was really surprised to see that nothing had been written about it in Wiki thus far.

I hope that other residents will see this article and become inspired to hep me edit it.

MODEL? I took out the bit about it being a model for opposing the current highway exansion. Without a citation to show that this is indeed the case, ie, that today's opposition groups are modelling their campaign after SPOTA's, or maybe a rewording (inspire instead of model?) with an explanation of what it means, I don't think it belongs because, frankly, I don't buy it. It sounds like a plug for the current campaign by someone trying give it cred by associating with a successful one in the past. Both campaigns involve roads and protesters, but have little else in common. People fighting to not be displaced from their homes is very different from not liking cars.

Impossible language statistics?

In section ‘History’, paragraph 1, it says, "is the only neighbourhood where English is not the most commonly spoken language, with 61% of residents reporting Chinese as their mother tongue, followed by English at 24%." For this claim, it cites a website, which does indeed claim this: "61% of all Strathcona residents list Chinese as their mother tongue. English is the next most commonly stated first language, representing 24% of the residents."

However, in section ‘Demographics’, it then says that, as of the 2016 census, only 30.39 % of residents reported east Asian ancestry, with 44.75 % European and 10.05 % Indigenous. It is therefore impossible for 61 % of Strathcona residents to be Chinese first language speakers. The 61 % statistic from the ‘History’ section simply mathematically cannot be true.

Can someone please take a look at this, and tell me I'm not going insane, and if so edit the article to fix this? Thanks and Peace to you. <3
